JAMMU, Mar 3: The victorious Jammu and Kashmir Ranji cricket team received a rousing welcome on their arrival in Jammu today, as jubilant locals and family members gathered outside the airport to celebrate their historic achievement.
Soon after the team landed at Jammu Airport, a large crowd assembled outside, dancing to the beats of dhol and chanting slogans in honour of the players. Family members, relatives and cricket enthusiasts greeted the team with garlands and warm embraces, creating an electrifying atmosphere filled with pride and celebration.
Meanwhile, the Kashmir-bound players proceeded directly to Srinagar from their respective destinations. Jammu and Kashmir scripted history by clinching their maiden Ranji Trophy title after 67 years, defeating eight-time champions Karnataka at the KSCA Stadium in Hubli last week. The remarkable campaign was defined by resilience, determination and strategic brilliance, as the team outperformed seasoned opponents to lift the coveted trophy.
Speaking to the media, players expressed immense happiness over the achievement, calling it a victory for the entire management and the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “We have been practising rigorously for the past few years. It was challenging to face top teams, but our hard work and the unwavering support of the management made it possible,” a player said. The scenes at the airport were electrifying as fans celebrated the triumphant return of their heroes with unmatched enthusiasm and pride.
Meanwhile, Kathua also witnessed scenes of pride and jubilation as Kawalpreet Singh returned home following Jammu & Kashmir’s historic Ranji Trophy 2025-26 triumph. Welcomed with flower garlands, drumbeats and cheers from residents, Singh was praised for his crucial role in the team’s landmark victory.
