JAMMU, Mar 3: Police claimed to have detained three alleged offenders under preventive provisions to maintain public peace in the Bus Stand area of Jammu district.
The action was taken under sections 126, 170 and 129 of the BNSS within the jurisdiction of Police Station Bus Stand Jammu.
A police official said that on March 2, a team led by Inspector Inderpal Singh apprehended one Afnan of Donikhu D Buchwara Dalgate Srinagar, his wife Saniya Shabier, and Sanjay Kumar of Thalora, Tehsil Majalta, Udhampur, for getting involved in activities prejudicial to public peace and tranquility.
During questioning, the trio reportedly created a disturbance at the spot, leading to a gathering and panic in the area, he said.
He said their actions raised apprehensions of a possible breach of peace.
To prevent further disturbance and avoid any cognizable offence, he said, the accused were arrested under preventive provisions and produced before the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Jammu.
After examining the case, the court issued detention orders, following which all three were lodged in District Jail Kot Bhalwal under judicial custody.
