Removal of Reharis

KATHUA, Mar 3: A massive protest was held by Vendors against the Municipal Committee at Hiranagar Morh today about 28 kms from here for removing their reharis from town without giving prior notice.
The protestors including men and women raising slogans against the Municipal Committee accused it of snatching the bread and butter of the poor people who have no source of income except earning their livelihood by installing their reharis on road side.
They alleged that the Municipal Committee authorities have failed to give any prior notice to them. Moreover in case the reharis are illegal under what law the Municipal Committee officials charge money from them under proper receipts every day. “This is total harassment of the poor people which the vendors will not tolerate at any cost ”, the protestors said.
The protestors also disrupted traffic movement in the area for a while. The officers from administration later reached the spot to pacify the protestors and to restore the normalcy in the area.
