JAMMU, Mar 6: A deputation of Kashmiri Pandits led by the community’s senior leader M.K.Yogi along with social activists Vinod Pandita, Sanjay Raina , Anil Bhan , Vishal Jotshi and Ashok Pandita today called on Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary J&K here at Civil Secretariat today and discussed the burning issues of the displaced community and sought his immediate attention towards them.
While apprising the Chief Secretary about the issues, Vinod Pandita demanded extension of time period for filling of NAFSA form, Amnesty for displaced Pandits like it has been given in the past, facilitation to enhance monthly cash assistance from Rs 13000/ to Rs 25000/ , repair/renovation of residential quarters which are in dilapidated conditions in all camps, construction of more quarters for migrants living on rent in Jammu, and other parts and also providing suitable accommodation to more than hundred families living in miserable condition in one room ghettos in Purkhoo camp for many years.
Pandita also urged for passing afresh directions to the Deputy Commissioners who are the sole custodian of migrant properties in Valley to implement the Migrant Immovable Property Act in letter and spirit regarding removing of encroachments KPs land who are running from pillar to post for justice. A memorandum was also submitted to the CS by the delegation.
M.K.Yogi head of the delegation highlighted the genuine issues of the community which included allotment of accommodation to PM package employees working in Valley living on rented accommodations, passing of directions to the concerned departments for doling out the left out compensation to gutted/damaged properties of KPs in Valley, formulation of concrete and tangible return and rehabilitation policy in a time bound period for resettlement of KPs in Valley with honour and dignity, formation of Apex Coordination Committee comprising of real ground level KP leaders/philanthropists and social activists, development of Shamshan Bhumi at Jagti township with proper connectivity and parking as well providing a vehicle in the township.
Yogi also urged for deploying more manpower in Relief Commissioner’s Office to tide over their difficulty as well deployment of adequate staff and medicines in SDH Jagti and required staff in migrant schools.
The Chief Secretary assured that the issues highlighted in the meeting would be taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate necessary action.
