JAMMU, Mar 6: The Federation of All India Packaged Drinking Water Manufacturers’ Associations has issued an advisory stating that packaged drinking water industry is witnessing sharp increase in the cost of raw materials used in packaging and production.
In a meeting at Samba, the Association members said: “According to the advisory circular issued on March 6, 2026, prices of key materials such as PET resin have increased by around Rs. 25.75 per kg since December 2025. This rise has directly impacted the cost of making preforms and bottles used for packaged drinking water.”
The circular further stated that polymer prices have also been revised upward and the price of LLDPE and HDPE has increased by Rs. 15,000 per metric tonne, LDPE by Rs. 17,000 per metric tonne, LD AL/W&C by Rs. 18,000 per metric tonne and LD HD/EC by Rs. 20,000 per metric tonne.
In addition, BOPP film prices have gone up by Rs. 10 per kg for both TT and NT grades.
“Due to the cumulative impact of these increases, packaging and manufacturing costs across the industry have risen significantly”, said Association members.
They further said: “In view of the rising costs, FIPMA has advised all State Associations and member bottlers to review and suitably revise the selling prices of packaged drinking water by around Rs. 10 per case for one-way pack SKUs, depending on local market conditions.”
The Association stated that it will continue to monitor market movements and raw material price fluctuations and may recommend further revisions in the Maximum Retail Price, if necessary.
