J&K Bank committed to women empowerment: MD Amitava Chatterjee

JAMMU, Mar 9: Managing Director and CEO of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Amitava Chatterjee, today reiterated the Bank’s commitment to women empowerment and financial independence while chairing a special function at the Bank’s Jammu Divisional Office.
Addressing the gathering, Chatterjee said that women have always played leadership roles within families and society, but it took many generations for them to receive similar opportunities in the professional domain.
He said that the gradual shift towards equal opportunities has produced encouraging results, with women today contributing significantly across sectors, including banking.
The event witnessed the participation of several women officers of the Bank, including Deputy General Managers Aneeta Nehru, Virender Kaur and Hafeeza Rahim, along with Assistant General Managers and Senior Managers who joined the function from the Bank’s Corporate Headquarters in Srinagar and Zonal Office Jammu.
In Jammu, the programme was attended by Executive Director Sudhir Gupta, Chief General Managers, General Managers, Deputy General Managers and other senior officers.
Several officers also joined the function virtually from the Corporate Headquarters in Srinagar.
Highlighting the Bank’s focus on gender equality and financial empowerment, Chatterjee said that empowering women is not only a social responsibility but also essential for achieving inclusive economic growth.
He noted that women are increasingly playing an important role in shaping organizations and economies.
Referring to the Bank’s strong relationship with women customers, he said that nearly 42 percent of its clientele comprises women, which reflects the trust they have in the institution.
He added that the Bank will continue to introduce initiatives and financial products aimed at strengthening women’s financial independence and encouraging entrepreneurship.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, DGM Hafeeza Rahim highlighted the importance of collaboration and mutual support in building inclusive institutions and communities.
DGM Virender Kaur stressed the need to create more professional opportunities for women and provide them with a supportive work environment to build a progressive banking system.
Later, DGM and Zonal Head (Jammu) Aneeta Nehru presented the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the Bank’s leadership and staff for participating in the programme.
