SRINAGAR, Mar 10: The senior Trade Union leader and president of the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) has urged the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to immediately release all the pending dues of the employees, pensioners and all kind of daily wagers ahead of the upcoming sacred Shab-e-Qadr, Jummat-ul-Vida and the Eid-ul-Fitr.
In a statement, senior Trade Union leader and president EJAC, Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam said that government employees, the pensioners as well as all the categories of the Dailywagers across Jammu and Kashmir are facing the huge financial constraints due to delay in the release of several pending payments, including salary arrears, leave salary, GP Fund withdrawals, pension benefits and other admissible dues.
Shabnam said that the Government workforce plays an important role in maintaining the administrative efficiency and delivery of public services across Jammu and Kashmir. However, the continued delay in the disbursement of legitimate dues has caused anxiety and hardships among the thousands of employees.
“Festivals like Shab-e-Qadr, Jummat-ul-Vida and Eid-ul-Fitr hold immense religious significance. It is a matter of great concern that many employees are still awaiting the payments that are rightfully theirs. Releasing these dues before Eid will not only ease the financial burden on their families but will also send a positive message of goodwill gesture and support from the government,” Shabnam said.
Shabnam further appealed to the concerned authorities to prioritize the clearance of all the pending claims and ensure that the employees receive their dues well in time before the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam expressed hope that the government will take a compassionate look and act swiftly in the larger interest of the employee community. EJAC reaffirmed its commitment to continue advocating for the welfare, dignity and legitimate rights of employees of the Jammu and Kashmir in all the circumstances.
