KARGIL, Mar 11: The martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S.) was observed with religious fervour and solemnity in Kargil district, here today.
Thousands of mourners from different villages gathered in Kargil town and participated in a mourning procession after Midday prayers under the banner of Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Ashriya Kargil and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Kargil.
The procession passed through the main market of Kargil and concluded at Inqilab Manzil and Hussaini Park.
Religious scholars addressed the gathering and highlighted the life and teachings of Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S.), emphasizing his message of justice, righteousness and humanity.
Special prayers were also offered for peace, harmony and normalcy in the world.
Meanwhile, similar mourning programmes were also observed in Sankoo, Drass, Tai Suru and Chiktan where people participated in large numbers.
The district administration had made adequate arrangements to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the processions.
