Khair wood logs seized at Jhajjar Kotli

JAMMU, Mar 11: Police has seized around 2-3 quintals of illegally transported Khair wood during routine naka checking at Panjal under the jurisdiction of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli.
According to police sources, a police team signalled an auto load carrier bearing registration number JK02AN-9271, which was coming from Tikri towards Jammu, to stop for checking. However, on noticing the police presence, the driver fled from the spot taking advantage of darkness, leaving the vehicle behind. During checking, the vehicle was found loaded with approximately 2-3 quintals of Khair wood logs being transported illegally. The vehicle along with the seized Khair wood has been taken into police custody.
Police have entered a report at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli, while the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Jammu, has been informed for further necessary action under the relevant provisions of the Forest Act.
