RAJOURI, Mar 14: At least seven persons were injured after a vehicle carrying pilgrims from Mahore area of Reasi district to the Shahdara Sharif Shrine in Rajouri met with an accident in Thannamandi area on Saturday.
According to police sources, an Eeco vehicle bearing registration number JK14E-4195 lost control while negotiating a sharp turn near Shahdara Sharif and plunged into a nearly 30-feet-deep gorge. ravine. The passengers were on their way to pay obeisance at the shrine when the mishap occurred.
The injured have been identified as Mohammad Rafiq, Naseem Begum, 5-month-old Mohammad Amir, 11-month-old Tanveer Ahmed, Fatima Begum, Zatoon Begum, and Abdul Hamid.
Soon after the accident, locals rushed to the spot and assisted in rescuing the injured passengers. All the injured were immediately shifted to Government Hospital Thannamandi for medical treatment.
Dr Sageer Anjum, Zonal Medical Officer Thannamandi informed that all the seven victims, including two infants, are stable and under medical observation.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident, seized the vehicle involved, and initiated further investigation into the matter.
