JAMMU, Mar 14: As communicated by the Nodal Officer (SVEEP) of the Chief Electoral Officer, Padma Shri Dr. S.P Varma, a noted peace activist has been appointed as the UT Level Election Icon for J&K.
The appointment aims to strengthen voter awareness, outreach and engagement across the Union Territory under the directives of the Election Commission of India.
Dr. Varma will support initiatives encouraging citizens to participate actively in the democratic process. The position is purely honorary and non-remunerative. Expressing gratitude for the honour, Dr. Varma thanked the concerned authorities involved in the process of his appointment.
He affirmed that whenever his services are required, he would make himself available to contribute towards strengthening democratic participation and fulfilling his responsibilities in service of the Nation.
