JAMMU, Mar 16: Senior BJP leader and MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta on Monday launches the construction work of an 800-meter-long drain in Ward No. 27, a project estimated to cost around Rs 25 lakh. The project aims to improve drainage facilities in the locality and resolve a long-standing issue faced by residents.
The construction work has been initiated by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) following repeated requests from the residents of the area who had been demanding proper drainage infrastructure for a long time. Locals said that the absence of a proper drain had been causing waterlogging and sanitation issues, particularly during the rainy season.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Arvind Gupta said that the development of basic infrastructure remains a top priority and that efforts are being made to address pending civic issues across Jammu West constituency.
“This drain was a long-pending demand of the people of Ward No. 27. With the start of this work, we are ensuring that residents get relief from waterlogging and sanitation problems. Development of local infrastructure is essential for improving the quality of life of citizens,” Gupta said. He further assured the residents that several other development projects will also be taken up in the coming months to strengthen civic amenities in the area.
“Our focus is on ensuring that every Ward in the constituency receives the necessary infrastructure. We are working in coordination with the concerned departments so that public issues are addressed without delay,” he added.
Former MLC & former State general secretary BJP, Vibodh Gupta appreciated the initiative and said the project will greatly benefit residents of Ward No. 27. He stated that strengthening drainage infrastructure is essential for improving sanitation and preventing waterlogging, and assured that more development works will continue to enhance civic amenities in the area.
