JAMMU, Mar 17: Police in RS Pura area here today claimed to have arrested a hardcore criminal and recovered a sharp-edged weapon from his possession.
During routine patrolling on March 16, a team of Police Station RS Pura, led by SHO concern, Tribhawan Khajuria, spotted a suspicious person near Agra Chak, close to the Jama Masjid, a police official said.
On noticing the police presence, he said, the suspicious individual attempted to flee but was swiftly overpowered by the alert cops.
The police official further said that during questioning, the suspect identified himself as Yudhvir Singh alias Bablu of Old Agra Chak, RS Pura.
A sharp-edged weapon was recovered from his possession when he was frisked, he said.
Accordingly, the accused was booked in case FIR number 57/2026 under section 4/25 of the Arms Act registered at Police Station RS Pura and further investigation taken up.
According to the police official, the accused is a history-sheeter, notorious criminal and has remained involved in multiple criminal cases in the past as well.
