JAMMU, Mar 17: The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), City Branch Jammu organized the PACE – Pneumonia Assessment; Care Education Module under the IAP Presidential Action Plan 2026.
The programme aimed to strengthen the knowledge and clinical skills of pediatricians in the early diagnosis, management and prevention of pneumonia in children.
Dr Sanjeev Kumar Digra, Professor and Head, Department of Pediatrics, SMGS Hospital Jammu and President IAP City Branch Jammu, highlighted the importance of this workshop as pneumonia despite being a treatable and preventable disease continues to be one of the major cause of mortality in children.
Dr. Neelam Mohan, National President IAP 2026, in her address through virtual mode, appreciated IAP City Branch for conducting this workshop at Jammu. Dr Sunil Dutt Sharma EB Member from J&K and President IAP J&K State Branch, delivered the introductory speech.
Other esteemed faculty for this workshop, including Dr Surinder Singh, Professor Pediatrics IGMC Shimla; Dr Javed Iqbal, Additional Professor Pediatrics, SKIMS; Dr Samriti Gupta, Professor and Head Department of Pediatrics AIIMS Vijaypur; Dr. Kaushal Kumar Khajuria, Associate Professor Pediatrics, SMGS Jammu and Dr Pankaj Gupta, Senior Consultant Pediatrics, Govt Hospital Sarwal Jammu, delivered lectures on various aspects of pneumonia including diagnosis, imaging, advanced investigations, complicated pneumonia and vaccination for prevention.
This event was graced with the august presence of former Professors and Heads of Pediatrics, GMC Jammu, Dr Ashok Gupta & Dr G S Saini and former Professor and Head of Pediatrics, ASCOMS, Dr Ravinder K Gupta. Other prominent persons present included Senior Pediatricians Dr N K Pargal, Dr S S Salathia, Dr Kewal Samotra, Dr Mahesh Gupta, Dr Pushpinder Kumar, Dr Ashu Jamwal, Dr Mohd. Razaq, Dr Vikas Mahajan, Dr Ravi Parihar, Dr Neeraj Kumar, Dr Rajneesh, Dr Mohsin, Dr Pooja, Dr Narinder Singh , Dr Manoj Sharma, Dr Ajay Choudhary & Dr Rajinder Chib.
Dr Rajesh Koul (Treasurer IAP City Branch Jammu), conducted the proceedings and Dr Anuj Bhatti, General Secretary, IAP City Branch Jammu presented the vote of thanks.
