KATHUA, Mar 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kathua unit, strongly opposed the 18% tariff hike and the increase in fuel prices, terming the decision as anti-public and detrimental to the transport sector.
Party leaders submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, demanding an immediate rollback of the hike. They stated that the rising prices under the current Government are placing an additional financial burden on common citizens.
The BJP also warned that the imposition of local surcharges would lead to an increase in the prices of essential commodities, thereby further fueling inflation.
