Labour Commr reviews licensing procedures, labour code implementation

JAMMU, Mar 18: Labour Commissioner J&K, Charandeep Singh, today chaired an interactive meeting at Shram Bhawan, Jammu to review licensing procedures across departments and discuss implementation of the new Labour Codes with the stakeholders.
Representatives from various establishments, including M/s K.C Plaza, M/s Vivanta, M/s Movie Time, M/s Compliances Walmart, M/s Geetanjali, M/s Jio (J&K), M/s Monalisa, M/s Palm Island, M/s Lords Inn, M/s TRG Group, M/s Yougal Sons, M/s Blinkit (J&K), M/s B.D. Security, M/s Petrol Pump Association, M/s Country Inn and M/s Gangyal Industrial Association, attended the meeting.
The Labour Commissioner sought feedback on registration, licensing, inspections and compliance mechanisms, while discussions focused on simplifying procedures, improving transparency and strengthening coordination among departments.
It was informed that the Labour Commissioner has been designated as the Nodal Officer for the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) in the Labour and Employment Department and will oversee coordination, monitoring and implementation of reform measures.
Participants highlighted practical issues faced on the ground and appreciated the department’s consultative approach.
Senior officers, including the Deputy Labour Commissioner Jammu Shukpal Singh, Assistant Labour Commissioner Jammu Rupali Jasrotia, and Assistant Labour Commissioner Central Roopali Gandotra, were also present.
The Labour Commissioner reiterated the commitment to ensure a business-friendly environment while safeguarding workers’ rights and strengthening labour welfare in Jammu and Kashmir.
