Railways conduct special ticket checking drive; 249 passengers penalised

JAMMU, Mar 22: Jammu Division of the Northern Railway today carried out a special ticket checking drive on the rail section between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) and Pathankot Cantt (PTKC).
The drive was conducted by dedicated teams constituted by the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, Uchit Singhal and included ticket checking staff along with personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
During the intensive checking operation, a total of 249 passengers were found traveling without valid or proper tickets across various trains and station premises. A fine amounting to Rs 1,10,000 was collected on the spot.
The drive aimed at ensuring a smooth, safe, and comfortable travel experience for the large number of pilgrims visiting during the auspicious Navratri period. As part of the drive, passengers were also made aware of the features and benefits of the ‘RailOne’ mobile application, encouraging them to adopt digital services for convenience and transparency.
Speaking on the occasion, Uchit Singhal reiterated the Railways’ commitment to providing a hassle-free journey to passengers. He stated that special ticket checking squads have been deployed at major stations and on trains to curb unauthorized travel. He further warned that strict action will be taken under the provisions of the Railways Act against those found traveling without valid tickets.He also appealed to passengers to maintain discipline and ensure they travel only with valid tickets, contributing to a better and more organized travel experience for all.
