According to police, during routine checking in the area, it was found that 23 foreign nationals had checked into the hotel on the evening of March 22, 2026, including 19 British nationals.
Officials said the hotel management failed to inform Police Station Pahalgam about the presence of the foreign guests and did not submit the mandatory Form ‘C’, a legal requirement for reporting the stay of foreign nationals.
“The concealment of information amounts to a violation of provisions under the Foreigners and Immigration Act, 2025, and compromises established security protocols,” a police official said.
Following the lapse, a case vide FIR No. 18/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pahalgam, and an investigation has been initiated.
Police have urged all hotel operators across the region to strictly adhere to legal procedures and ensure timely reporting of foreign guests to avoid action under the law.
