JAMMU, Mar 24: Former Vice-Chancellor, Prof R D Sharma has been unanimously elected as Patron of Retired Officers Forum, which was reconstituted today.
The election was held during General Body meeting of the Forum, held today under the chairmanship of outgoing Patron, S C Rekhi. The new team of office bearers, Executive Body, and Advisory Committee was proposed and unanimously approved by the members present.
S C Rekhi was elected as Presidents while K S Samyal, V K Abrol and Ashok Gupta were nominated as the Vice-Presidents. Dr Shreyansh Kumar Jain was elected as General Secretary and Sardar Harbhajan Singh as Finance Secretary.
R C Vaid, Pramod Jain, P C Gupta and Lalita Sharma were nominated as Members of the Executive Body. Convenor of the Advisory Committee is Prem Gupta (Ex IGP) while its members include Professor R.D. Sharma, V K Abrol, Dr Shreyansh Kumar Jain and K S Samyal.
Reconstitution of the Forum was necessitated following the demise of former President I D Soni and a few other Working Committee members.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof R D Sharma said that the Retired Officers Forum will continues to serve as a vital platform dedicated to safeguarding the interests and welfare of retired officers across Jammu and Kashmir , while fostering camaraderie, mutual support, and meaningful engagement among its members.
S C Rekhi elaborated on the aims and objectives of the Forum, which has been serving retired gazetted officers of J&K for the past 27 years.
