Bioinnovate-2026 Kicks Off At CSIR-IIIM, Potential Startup Received Seed Funding

Srinagar, Mar 26: The two-day flagship event “Bioinnovate-2026” commenced at the CSIR–Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Sanat Nagar, bringing together startups, innovators, researchers, industry experts, and key stakeholders from the bioinnovation ecosystem in a vibrant display of innovation and collaboration.

Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Chairman AIC-IIIM and Director of CSIR-IIIM, inaugurated the event and underscored the institute’s commitment to fostering a robust culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.

On the ocasion, seed fund cheques were distributed to several startups incubated under AIC-IIIM, reinforcing the Centre’s commitment to supporting early-stage ventures.

He emphasized the importance of nurturing startups and translating research into impactful, market-ready solutions.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with a large number of startups setting up exhibition stalls to showcase their innovative products, technologies, and research-driven solutions.

The exhibition highlighted emerging trends in bioinnovation and reflected the growing entrepreneurial momentum in Jammu & Kashmir.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed lauded the efforts and achievements of the startups, acknowledging their pivotal role in driving innovation, job creation, and economic growth.

Reaffirming institutional support, he assured that CSIR-IIIM will continue to provide startups with access to advanced research infrastructure, testing facilities, mentorship, and technical guidance to help scale their ventures successfully.

Earlier, Dr. Saurabh Saran, Principal Investigator, AIC-IIIM, delivered the welcome address, outlining the objectives of Bioinnovate-2026 and highlighting the importance of such platforms in connecting innovators with opportunities, resources, and networks.

Dr. Shahid Jibran, Chief Executive Officer, AIC-IIIM Bioinnovation Foundation, presented a comprehensive overview of the foundation’s key initiatives and achievements. He also shared the roadmap for future growth, focusing on expanding incubation support, strengthening industry linkages, and accelerating the commercialization of innovative ideas.

On the occasion, seed fund cheques were distributed to several startups incubated under AIC-IIIM, reinforcing the Centre’s commitment to supporting early-stage ventures. The Director also launched a range of products developed under the incubation programme, showcasing the tangible outcomes of innovation-driven entrepreneurship.

Further strengthening collaboration, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed signed 10 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various incubatees, marking a significant step towards building long-term innovation partnerships.

The annual magazine “AIC-IIIM Momentum 2025” was also released, documenting the achievements, milestones, and success stories of the incubation centre.

The event will continue on the second day with a series of technical sessions, panel discussions, startup pitches, and interactive engagements, aimed at fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and growth within the bioinnovation sector.
