TEL AVIV, Mar 25 : The Israel Defence Forces said on Wednesday that it recently carried out airstrikes against several Iranian key naval cruise missile production centres, causing “extensive damage” to them in the process.
Issuing a statement, the IDF said that the sites “were used by the Iranian regime to develop and manufacture long-range naval cruise missiles, which are capable of rapidly destroying targets at sea and on land,” adding that its attacks “represent another step in deepening the damage done to the regime’s military production infrastructure.”
Separately, the IDF said it had struck what it described as the only facility in Iran producing submarines and related support systems for the navy.
According to the Israeli military, the Israeli Air Force targeted the Underwater Research Center in Isfahan following naval intelligence assessments. The operation was expected to “significantly” limit Iran’s ability to build new submarines and disrupt its ability to maintain its existing fleet.
The strikes form part of a broader campaign aimed at degrading Iran’s military-industrial capacity, particularly its naval capabilities, which have both Tel Aviv and Washington worried, as Iran’s missile programme while damaged, is still considered a strong threat for both nations.
With naval launches being a key source of the Islamic Republic’s harassment of global shipping, President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that weakening Iran’s naval power is a priority for Washington, claiming recently that the objective had largely been achieved.
