“No Shortage Of Fuel, Don’t Fall For Rumours”: CM Omar Abdullah Warns Against Panic Buying

JAMMU, Mar 26: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday urged people not to believe in rumours regarding shortage of essential commodities, asserting that there is no scarcity of petrol, diesel or LPG in Jammu and Kashmir at present.
Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister said, “It is unfortunate that when the government speaks, people don’t listen, but they believe rumours. We have reviewed the situation and there is no shortage of diesel, petrol or LPG cylinders. The situation remains unchanged over the past few days.”
He appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary rush at petrol pumps, warning that panic-driven queues could worsen the situation. “I request people not to line up outside petrol pumps based on social media rumours. If this continues, we may have to temporarily shut pumps to control the situation. There is no need for fear as supplies are adequate,” he said.
Referring to the broader situation, Abdullah said the Centre is closely monitoring developments and ensuring availability of essential supplies. “At present, there is no shortage anywhere in the country. People should remain calm and rely only on official information,” he added. (KNC)
