JAMMU, Mar 26: All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) and Shree Sanatan Dharam Yuvak Sabha recently held a meeting under the stewardship of its president, Moti Lal Malla, raising concern over difficulties faced by Kashmiri migrant relief holders in updating ration cards under the NAFSA process.
The meeting was attended by executive members and representatives of various socio-political organisations, who highlighted that migrants working in the private sector, especially those posted outside their place of registration, are facing serious hardships due to mandatory physical verification at ration depots.
The members said that frequent travel for verification is not feasible for such employees, as it affects their jobs and income.
They added that the requirement puts migrants in a difficult position, forcing them to choose between their livelihood and continuation of relief benefits.
The organisations appealed to the Chief Secretary and Relief Commissioner to adopt a more flexible approach, including options like digital verification, relaxed timelines, or alternative arrangements.
They stressed that a humanitarian and practical solution is needed to ease the burden on the displaced community, which has been living in exile for decades.
