Ram Navami celebrated with religious fervour; Shobha Yatra taken out

JAMMU, Mar 26: Ram Navami was celebrated today with great religious fervour, enthusiasm and traditional grandeur across Jammu region, with thousands of devotees participating in prayers, Shobha Yatra and Saakh Visarjan ceremonies.
The main celebrations were held at the historic Raghunath Temple, where devotees thronged since early morning to offer prayers on the auspicious occasion marking the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Ram. Special Puja and religious discourses were organised, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere in the temple premises.

On the occasion, a grand Shobha Yatra was also taken out in the afternoon under the aegis of religious organisations, including the J&K Dharmarth Trust, Sanatan Dharam Sabha and various local groups.
The procession commenced from the Raghunath Temple after traditional Poojan and Rath rituals, and passed through various bazaars and important routes of the old city before culminating at the same temple.
The Shobha Yatra featured beautifully decorated tableaux depicting scenes from the Ramayana, along with idols of Lord Ram, Mata Sita and Lakshman placed on ornately decorated chariots. Devotees, including women and children, participated in large numbers, chanting religious slogans and singing devotional hymns.
Flower petals were showered on the procession at several points, while various market associations and social organisations set up Bhandaras distributing prasad and refreshments among participants.
In view of the large gathering, elaborate security arrangements were put in place by the district administration and police.
Ram Navami was also celebrated in other parts of Jammu division with devotional zeal and taking out Shobha Yatras.
Reports from Kishtwar said that MLA Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar; DC Kishtwar, Pankaj Sharma and SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh among prominent people were present at the Gauri Shankar Temple, Sarkoot, where the main celebration function was held. They also accompanied the religious procession.
Similar reports of Ram Navami celebration were received from Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajopuri and other districts.
As the occasion of Ram Navami also marked culmination of the Navratras, the traditional Saakh Visarjan ceremony was also performed today. Devotees carried sacred Saakh and immersed them in nearby water bodies.
Heavy rush of devotees was seen at Tawi, near Bikram Chowk where they immersed the holy Saakh.
