JAMMU, Mar 26: The Kashmiri Pandit Sabha has termed the reopening of the historic Raghunath Temple in Srinagar after a gap of over 36 years as an encouraging development for the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community.
Sabha President KK Khosa, along with members of the Executive Committee, congratulated the LG Manoj Sinha on the occasion, which coincided with the auspicious festival of Ram Navami.
They said the reopening has rekindled hope and revived memories for families, particularly those from the Habba Kadal area, who used to visit the temple regularly before 1989-90.
The Sabha members also appreciated the efforts of the Government of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the UT administration for maintaining a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism, which they said has helped create a better security environment.
At the same time, the Sabha urged the Government of India and the UT administration to formulate and implement a comprehensive return and rehabilitation policy for displaced Kashmiri Pandits within this year.
They emphasized that the community is keen to return to their ancestral land with dignity, safety, and proper arrangements.
The members further said that the prevailing situation should be utilized to restore communal harmony and peace in the Valley.
They also called upon the leadership of the majority community, including the Government led by Omar Abdullah, to help create a conducive atmosphere for the safe and sustainable return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits.
