JAMMU, Mar 26: The All Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (AJKTF), affiliated with All India Secondary Teachers Federation (AISTF), today held a virtual meeting under the leadership of its State President Mohd Ashraf Sheikh, during which a wide range of issues concerning the teaching fraternity and the overall functioning of the education system in the Union Territory were discussed.
During the meeting, participants expressed serious concern over the delay in filling vacant posts of Principals, Zonal Education Officers ZEOs, Headmasters, and Lecturers across Jammu and Kashmir. They highlighted that these key positions have remained unfilled for a prolonged period, adversely affecting the smooth and efficient functioning of educational institutions.
The Forum urged the Education Minister and the Commissioner Secretary, School Education Department, to take immediate steps to fill all vacant posts on a priority basis.
Apart from this, several other issues were discussed, including delays in promotions, implementation of a transfer policy in favour of teachers appointed under the ReT Scheme, and the need to frame a comprehensive and equitable transfer policy for all teachers and employees working in the Education Department. The participants called for a transparent and time-bound mechanism to address these concerns.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous appeal to the authorities to take urgent and decisive steps to resolve these long-pending issues in the larger interest of students, teachers, and the education system as a whole. The AJKTF leadership expressed hope that the Government will act promptly to address the concerns of the teaching fraternity.
The meeting was attended by Provincial President Jammu Gulshan Sharma, along with members of the central leadership including senior vice president Rafaquit Hussain Malik, senior vice chairman Mohd Mahroof, vice president Sanjeet Sharma, vice president Mehmood-ul-Rayaz Bhat, Lokesh Sharma, r Neetan Kalyan, Raman Kumar Sharma, Joginder Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Jalil Ahmed, Nasir Ahmed Mir, Amarjeet Singh, Mohd Rayaz, and Sadiq Poswal, among others.
