4 drug peddlers held with 174 gram heroin

UDHAMPUR, Apr 1: In separate cases of narcotics smuggling, Police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered more than 174 grams heroin from them.
Udhampur Police, in its continued drive against drug trafficking, achieved significant success by apprehending two accused in separate operations and recovered substantial quantity of heroin from their possession.
Police team of Police Station Majalta, while conducting naka checking duty at Battal Naka, intercepted a Swift car bearing registration number JK02BU-3332 coming from Ramkot towards Battal.
During checking, the person driving the vehicle, disclosed his identity as Mohd Kesh, son of Sher Ali, resident of Sunjwah, Sainik Colony, Jammu. During his personal search, 110 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
During patrolling near Manwal Chowk, police party from PS Majalta intercepted one suspicious person moving from Manwal towards Battal. During personal search, 26 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Sunil Kumar, son of Mohinder Singh of Ward No. 8, Ramnagar, Udhampur.
Another drug peddler was apprehended during naka checking at Battal Naka, when a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK14H-4517, coming from Manwal towards Battal, was stopped for routine checking. The rider, who disclosed his identity as Abhikant Sharma, son of Som Raj of Rathian, Udhampur, was carrying 32 grams of heroin, which was recovered from his possession.
A police team from Police Station Udhampur, apprehended a drug peddler who was roaming suspiciously near Subash Stadium. During frisking, 6.72 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Haris Hussain, son of Refat Hussain, of Kotwal Mohalla, Kishtwar.
Separate FIRs under NDPS Act have been registered in these cases at concerned Police Stations and further investigations are going on.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police apprehended two absconders wanted in different cases who had been evading arrest for a long time.
An absconder namely Mukhtyar Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman, resident of Faggu Dole Gham, Tehsil Bhanihal, District Ramban, was wanted in FIR No. 267/2018 U/S 279/337/338 RPC registered at PS Udhampur. The accused had been absconding for a long period and was arrested from Ramban.
Another absconder namely Kuljeet Singh son of Balwan Singh, resident of Mangiot, District Udhampur, was involved in FIR No. 361/2015 U/S 341/323/325/34 IPC. He was arrested by the police team of PS Udhampur from Nagrota, Jammu.
