JAMMU, Apr 1: Panic gripped the Narwal area of Jammu today after a fire broke out in a parked oil tanker opposite the RTO office, damaging seven vehicles, including six oil tankers and a scooty.
Officials said the fire erupted mysteriously around 12:20 PM in one of the tankers and quickly spread to nearby vehicles following a blast in the affected tanker.
They said fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot and, after nearly two hours of firefighting, brought the blaze under control around 2:30 PM.
No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident, they said.

At the time of the incident, they said around 30-35 vehicles were parked in the area.
Two of the tankers reportedly had some oil left, raising fears of a major mishap as the site is located close to key establishments, including an oil depot, Jammu Tawi Railway Station and the RTO office.
However, timely action by the fire and emergency teams averted a bigger tragedy.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation.
