BANIHAL/JAMMU: Continued bloodbath is going on between Ramban-Banihal stretch of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, as five more died and five others got seriously injured when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell down into gorge at Digdol area near Ramban after collision with another vehicle on Friday.
According to SSP Ramban P.D Nitya, five persons died and five were injured when a TATA Sumo taxi (JK03E-3218) they were travelling in from Ramban to Ramsoo skidded of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and fell into a gorge at Digdol near Army Camp Mod after collided with another vehicle (JK04G-0822) coming from opposite side.
SSP Ramban said that after receiving information, Army, Police, QRT and SDRF personnel immediately rushed to the spot and shifted all victims to District Hospital Ramban, where doctors declared five of them as brought dead, while others five are seriously injured.
“The injured are undergoing treatment at District Hospital Ramban,” SSP added, saying that in preliminary reports, the ill fated vehicle have collision with another vehicle coming from opposite side, resulting driver lost control over the steering and fell into gorge.
The deceased have been identified as Ab Khadoos, 62, son of Gul Mohd Naik, resident of Zaradi Neel, Naseema Begam, 35, wife of Abid Hussain, resident of Zaradi Neel, Jaswant Singh, son of Krishan Lal, resident of Panthial, Naresh Kumar, 60, son of Shanker Dass, resident of Udhampur at present Makarkoot, Ramsoo and Mohd Ayub Runyal, 56, son of Gh Mohd Runyal, resident of Maligam Pogal.
The injured have been identified as Khadim Hussain, son of Ab Khadoos, resident of Zardai Neel, Ramban (Driver of Sumo), Asmeena, 15, daughter Muneer Hussain, resident of Zaradi Neel, Jeevan Singh, 30, son of Shukhdev Singh, resident of Panthyal, Naima Bano, 16, daughter of Abid Hussan, resident of Neel and Sukhdev Singh, 70, son of Krishan Lal, resident of Pantiyal.
SSP Ramban P.D.Nitya said that other five passengers were found dead from the spot whose identity is being ascertained. The case has been registered at Police station Ramban and further investigation has been taken up.
