Heavy downpour brings respite to Jammuites

JAMMU: Betraying all weather reports, the weather God on late Friday evening blessed Jammu with heavy downpour, resulting in water logging on the city roads leading to slow traffic movement.
However, the Jammuites had a pleasant relief from the humid atmosphere punctuated with unscheduled power-cuts. The mild stormy winds accompanying the rains again put the power supply haywire in most of the areas.
The weatherman had been reporting clear skies but the accumulated clouds abruptly burst into pleasant showers.
Jammu had witnessed hottest day of the season on Thursday.
The water logging also put a big question mark on the civic conditions as many major drains could not take the onslaught of rains. The Amphalla road was completely inundated at most of the stretches.
Some youngsters were seen enjoying the seasons’ first heavy rainfall , a prelude to monsoon, by venturing out in lanes and getting drenched on terraces.
