POONCH, June 17: The 25th death anniversary of Shaheed Major Rohit Sharma was observed today as Martyrs Day in Mandi.
The programme was organized by the NGO on the name of martyr Major in collaboration with Indian army in which people from many states, J&K Waqf Board member, local elected representatives, Army, District and Tehsil administration officers along with local people participated.
Chairman of NGO, Ali Mohd Mir, other members Mushtaq Hussain Shah and Akber Ali B and everyone present in the programme paid tribute to the martyr Major. On the occasion, students from different local schools presented cultural items.
Pertinent to mention that Major Rohit Sharma attained martyrdom in 1998 Sathra encounter after which the NGO came into being in 1999 and starts observing death anniversary of Major Rohit Sharma besides organizing many other activities.
