Nidhi wins hearts as Homeland Club registers win in Women’s Cricket, Volleyball

JAMMU: Young women cricketer Nidhi was at her best with the willow and equally superb with the ball, thus won hearts of many cricket enthusiasts and lovers as Homeland Cricket Club drubbed Walkers Cricket Club Jagti by nine wickets in a one-sided affair in women’s one-off exhibition Cricket match as part of the ongoing PK’s annual sports extravaganza, being held at Jagti, near here.
In Volleyball tournament, Homeland Club emerged winner by drubbing Warriors XI, while in Men’s Cricket RSCC emerged winner and in Football Lalitaditya FC got the better of Homeland Football to move into the next round.
Earlier, in Women’s Cricket, winning the toss and batting first, Walkers Cricket Club set a modest target of 45 runs in stipulated 8 overs, losing 2 wickets in the process. Raviya scored brilliant 20 runs, studded with 5 boundaries, while Rishika contributed unbeaten 16 runs with the help of 3 fours. Nidhi took one wicket for Homeland Cricket Club.
In reply, Homeland Cricket Club rode on a magnificent show by Nidhi and surpassed the required target easily by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Nidhi top scored with unbeaten quick-fire 8-ball 25 runs, hitting 3 sixes and a four, while Sanjana contributed 17 runs to the total, studded with 3 boundaries. Raviya took the lone wicket to fall.
In Men’s Cricket, RSCC defeated APCC by 35 runs in an easy contest.
Batting first, RSCC scored a good total of 243 runs. Shubham slammed a brilliant century, hitting 11 sixes and 5 fours, while Sanjay Mantoo contributed 71 runs to the total. Surinder Bhat bagged 2 wickets for APCC.
In reply, APCC managed to score 208 runs to lose the match by 35 runs. Rohit top scored with 56 off 20 balls, studded with 6 fours and 5 sixes, while Chander contributed 53 runs off 31 balls with the help of 8 boundaries and 2 sixes. For RSCC, Ravi, King and Dilip took 2 wickets each, while Rohit claimed one wicket.
Meanwhile in Football, Lalitaditya FC drubbed Homeland FC by three goals to one (3-1). Ansh netted 2 goals and Anish one for the winners, while Rohit pelted a goal for the losers.
The first match of the Volleyball event was played today. Homeland Volleyball Club defeated Warriors Volleyball Club by 2-0 to emerge victorious.
The Football match was officiated by Praduman, Abhay Bhat, Vishal and Rahul, while the Cricket matches were officiated by Vijay Raina, Yogesh and Sandeep.
