Amid job crisis, 3m sit for civil exam in China

Over three million people took China’s annual civil service exam, with a record number of 2.5 million attendees amidst the economic slump. The exam was held in 237 cities, offering 39,600 vacancies in central government agencies. The high unemployment rate and instability in the job market have driven people to choose civil service jobs for stability. The number of people pursuing graduate school has also declined due to insecurity about work prospects.
