A sub-inspector (SI) of police died and two home guard jawans were injured when a car driver allegedly carrying liquor knocked them down near Chhatauna Burhi Gandak bridge in Begusarai district. The incident took place just over a month after another SI was run over by a tractor carrying illegally mined sand in Jamui district. Acting on a tip-off, SI Khamas Choudhary (47) along with three home guard jawans on patrolling tried to intercept the vehicle. The car driver accelerated the speed, knocked the policemen, and sped away.
