JAMMU, Apr 18: The monthly meeting of the Jammu & Kashmir Private Schools Association (JKPSA) Central Body was held today at Jammu under the chairmanship of Kamal Gupta, focusing on various challenges faced by private schools.
Satpaul Mansotra, General Secretary of the Association, expressed serious concern over the sufferings of small private schools, especially those operating in remote and border areas of Jammu division. He said the unreasonable and discriminatory regulations have created havoc for those working sincerely in the education sector. Despite repeated assurances, no concrete reforms have been implemented on the ground, he added.
Ajay Gupta, President of the Association, urged Shantmanu, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), to convene a meeting with stakeholders at the earliest. He stressed the need to amend various Acts and SROs, stating that applying the same rules to both large and small private schools without considering geographical and economic factors is unethical and illogical.
He appreciated the Government’s one-time age relaxation (up to September 30, 2025) for students admitted to nursery in 2022-23. The members appealed for admission at age 3 by March 31 as per the NEP-2020 (5+3+3+4) model. Present in the meeting were Deepak Handa (Sr. Vice President JKPSA), Ajay Singh (Vice President JKPSA), Gaurav Charak (Publicity Secretary JKPSA) and Naresh Kumar (General Secretary Kathua).
