J&K claims 14 Medals at National Muay Thai C’ship

JAMMU, Apr 30: The J&K Sports Taekwondo Association bagged an impressive 14 medals at the National Muay Thai India Championship, held from April 25 to 27 at the Sports Complex 42 Sector Chandigarh. The event, organized by the World Boxing Council Amateur Muay Thai India, witnessed participation from 190 students across 19 States.
A 15-member J&K team, led by Anil Nanda (Hall of Fame Awardee) and Ronika Rathore (Girls’ Team Manager), delivered an exceptional performance, winning 6 Gold, 7 Silver and 1 Bronze.
The gold medalists included Samarth Gupta of Jodhamal Public School, Aree Bhat of British International School, Rajveer Gupta of British International School, Bhumiksha Sharma of British International School, Divya Chitrangada of Shemfort Futuristic School Birpur, and Cheryl Pachnanda of Presentation Convent School Gandhi Nagar.
Silver medalists were Mehar Choudhary of Heritage School, Jayani Suri of British International School, Rajnandni Gupta of British International School, Anshuman Singh Jamwal of Heritage School, Taarush Bamba of Jodhamal Public School and Viraj Singh of Heritage School.
Dr Farooq Abdullah, President of JKNC and former Chief Minister of J&K, congratulated the team during a felicitation ceremony, emphasizing the need for identifying talent and providing quality coaching to excel at national and international levels.
