IAS officers nominated mentors for border distts

JAMMU, May 8: Amidst escalating tension between India and Pakistan and prevailing situation along the borders, the Government today nominated eight senior IAS officers as mentors for all the border districts in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
An order issued by the General Administration Department today said that Addl Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Jal Shakti Department Shaleen Kabra has been nominated as mentor for Jammu district; Shailender Kumar, Principal Secretary to Govt Agriculture Production Department for district Poonch; Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner/ Secretary to Social Welfare Deptt for district Kathua; Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner/ Secretary to Govt Industries and Commerce Deptt for district Samba while Bhupinder Kumar, Secy to Govt PW (R&B) Deptt as mentor for district Rajouri.
Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Commissioner/Secy to Govt, Labour and Employment has been nominated as mentor for district Baramulla; Sarmad Hafeez, Comm/Secy to Govt Youth Services and Sports Department for Kupwara while Owais Ahmed, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation as mentor for district Bandipora.
The order further said that these officers will be responsible for visiting the assigned districts, guide the respective district administrations in the ongoing relief rescue and rehabilitation operations, reviewing and ensuring the security of the vital and vulnerable installations in the district, facilitate coordination between Army, police, civilian administration and other agencies, ensure availability of essential services like water, electricity, communication, road connectivity etc, ensure availability of food items, petrol / diesel/ LPG and resolve issues being faced by the respective district administrations.
