POONCH: Historic pre-participation school-Government Higher Secondary School, build in 1935, has been named after Shaheed DySP Manjeet Singh (KPS 1999 batch), who sacrificed his life for the Nation in March 2003.
Born in December 6, 1968 in district Kathua, Manjeet’s name first associated with sports when veteran volleyball player of Poonch, Mohd Tariq established a Club in the name of young police officer soon after his supreme sacrifice in 2003.
In the last one decade or so, the club has contributed a lot for the promotion of the game of volleyball and emerged as one of the top clubs of J&K in terms of producing and promoting the young talent, including current India player, Saqlain Tariq.
