DSEJ mandates safety measures ahead of School reopening

JAMMU: The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has issued mandatory guidelines to ensure student safety ahead of the reopening of schools following recent heavy rains and floods.
“In continuation to this Office Order No DSEJ/GEN/46616-48 dated September 5, 2025, it is hereby ordered that no offline classes shall commence in either Government or Private Schools until a valid structural Safety Certificate is issued by the competent authority,” read an orfer issued by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, Director School Education Jammu (DSEJ).
“Heads of Institutions (HOIs)/School Management Committees are directed to get a comprehensive safety audit of school buildings and submit the detailed report to the concerned authority,” it stated and added, “HOls/School Management Committees must evaluate the overall preparedness of their respective schools after obtaining the safety certificate.”
“In case any HOI / School Management Committee is satisfied that their building does not require conduct of safety audit, being structurally safe, concerned HOI /School Management Committee, before commencing of offline classes, shall furnish an undertaking, certifying that school is structurally fully safe for conduct of offline classes. The aforesaid undertaking shall be furnished to the concerned CEO/ZEO,” reads an order .
