JAMMU, Sept 11: The Ministry of Law & Justice, Department of Legal Affairs, has notified the appointment of Advocate Farman Ali as Central Government Standing Counsel (CGSC) for conducting Central Government litigation before the High Court of Delhi.
The appointment, Vide Order No. J-11017/19/2025-Judicial dated 11th September 2025, has been made with the approval of the President of India and he will hold office for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Advocate Farman Ali was appointed as senior panel counsel in the year 2020 and since then he had been handling Union of India matters. Advocate Farman Ali, a son of the soil, hails from Jammu & Kashmir. He is the son of Ali Mohammad Magray, who has had a distinguished judicial career and has served as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Advocate Farman Ali is dealing with litigation, commercial, taxation, constitutional, arbitration and service matters. He has handled important matters in the Supreme Court like the cases pertaining to Benami and Salman Khan matters.
He has appeared in important matters such as Islamic Research Foundation Versus Union of India for MHA, All India IDBI Bank Officers Association case etc.
