NEW DELHI, Sep 24 : Just not an institutional milestone but it’s a symbol of how GST came in the last eight years, and it is also a powerful reminder of our determination to improve, reform, and also adapt it for the future, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said while launching Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) here today.
“GSTAT one adjudicating body, which is going to deliver justice for everybody, be it in the state or the centre. With GSTAT coming in the centre and states on board, we open a new era of predictable specialised jurisprudence. This is cooperative federalism in action. A single reliable appellate spine for the GST across the country.” She said.
It will provide jargon-free decisions in plain language, simplified comments and checklists, digital by default filings and virtual hearings and time standards for listing hearings and for pronouncements. It includes fair and efficient dispute solutions.
The GSTAT is the natural extension of the reform arm. It’s important for ease of doing business and a vital forum for justice. GSTAT will reduce legal friction, provide greater simplicity, and address the delays in litigation proactively. Resultantly, the cash flows move faster and MSMEs and exporters invest with confidence.
