PATIALA, Sept 29: Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET), in collaboration with the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh, organized the International Conference on Transforming Higher Education for the Future: Education 4.0 (THEC 2025). The conference received 173 research papers from India and abroad, with 63% selected after expert review. Twelve papers were recognized for their originality and impact.
The conference was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. R. R. Vederah (Chancellor, TIET), Sanjay Sen (Group HR Head, Avantha Group), Prof. Padmakumar Nair (Vice Chancellor, TIET), Prof. Ajay Batish (Pro Vice Chancellor, TIET), Prof. Bhola Ram Gurjar (Director, NITTTR Chandigarh) and Dr. Gurbinder Singh (Registrar, TIET).
Chief guest Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Director, IIT Kharagpur and President’s National Award for Teachers Awardee 2023, delivered a compelling keynote address emphasizing the transformation of education in the digital age.
Keynote speakers included Prof. Rajesh Kumar Dixit (NITTTR Bhopal), Prof. Nir Ohad (Tel Aviv University, Israel), Prof. Hans van Ees (University of Groningen, Netherlands) and Prof. Navneet Chopra (University of Delhi).
Panel discussions featured experts from IIM Jodhpur, IIM Indore, IIT Guwahati, IIM Mumbai, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, IIT Roorkee, IIM Jammu, IIT Madras, IIT Indore, and IIT Kanpur, covering topics such as AI in education, experiential learning, and faculty development.
The event also marked the release of the Conference Abstract Book and reinforced TIET’s commitment to innovation, collaboration and Outcome-Based Education.
