Bovines smuggling bids foiled, 26 cattle rescued

RAJOURI, Sept 30: The police successfully foiled three separate attempts of illegal transportation of bovine animals in the Chingus area. In swift and coordinated operations, police rescued 26 bovine animals, arrested four smugglers, and seized three vehicles involved in the smuggling attempts.
In the first operation in the Sasalkote area, a police party of Police Post Chingus, led by Chowki officer Chingus under the supervision of SHO Rajouri Abid Hussain Shah, intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK11B-4669, which was found illegally transporting 11 bovine animals towards Srinagar.
The driver, Balbir Kumar, son of Mohinder Paul, resident of Chidki, and his associate, Niaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Rashid, resident of Nowshera, were arrested on the spot. In this regard, a case FIR No. 492/2025 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station, Rajouri.
In another operation at Keri Chingus, the police party led by Chowki officer, Chingus under the supervision SHO Rajouri, Abid Hussain Shah during routine patrolling and naka checking intercepted two Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration numbers JK11B-4673 and JK11E-0598, which were transporting 15 bovine animals illegally without valid permission. The smugglers, Ranjot Singh, son of Didar Singh, resident of Narian and Mukhtiar Ali, son of Mohd Sharief from Anyatpura, were arrested. The animals were rescued and the vehicles seized. Accordingly, FIR No. 493/2025 and FIR No. 494/2025 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act were registered at Police Station Rajouri.
In all the cases, the bovine animals were rescued, the vehicles involved were seized, and further investigation is underway.
