Srinagar, Oct 4: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Basharat Qayoom today ordered an inquiry after a viral video alleged that expired Dextrose Normal Saline (DNS) was administered to a patient at District Hospital Pulwama.
DC said that the salary of the employee in charge of the concerned section has been withheld pending the outcome of the probe.
“The Medical Superintendent has been instructed to conduct an immediate inquiry and submit a report. Further action will follow once the findings are received,” he said.
The video, widely circulated on social media, claimed that a patient was given expired DNS carrying an expiry date of May 2025.
The clip triggered concern in south Kashmir, prompting hospital authorities to verify the claims.
Earlier, Medical Superintendent Dr Abdul Gani Dar refuted the allegations, saying no expired stock had been received or used at the facility.
He added that the batch number visible in the video did not match any record of the hospital.
“We are still conducting an internal inquiry to ascertain the facts,” he said.
Hospital officials said they are awaiting a statement from the patient’s family to confirm whether the infusion was administered at the facility.
District health officials said a fact-finding team is reviewing procurement, storage, and distribution of medical supplies at the hospital.
