JAMMU, Oct 5: District Development Council (DDC) Suchetgarh and senior Congress leader Taranjit Singh Tony, along with senior social activist Harvinder Kour, distributed blankets among flood-affected and needy families to provide relief ahead of the approaching winter season.
Speaking on the occasion, Tony said the initiative aimed to bring some comfort to those who lost their belongings in the recent floods and are struggling to cope with the upcoming cold season. “Many flood-affected families have been left with nothing. As the winter sets in, it becomes our duty as responsible citizens to reach out and help them. We must not leave these people at the mercy of the government alone,” he said.
Tony appealed to people from all sections of society to extend support in any possible way – through blankets, warm clothes, and other essential supplies. “Humanity must come first. When people unite for a noble cause, no calamity can break their spirit,” he added.
Social activist Harvinder Kour echoed Tony’s sentiments, emphasizing that collective compassion and timely assistance can make a real difference. “The flood-affected families are still facing hardships, and the coming winter will make their struggle even tougher. Every helping hand counts,” she said.
