RAJOURI, Oct 7: The police foiled bovines smuggling attempt in Manjakote area of Rajouri and arrested one person in this connection.
Reports said a special naka was laid by the Police team led by SHO Manjakote, Imran Khan, under the supervision of SDPO Manjakote, Shahid Nahiem, near the ZEO Office, Manjakote.
During checking, a Tata Mobile vehicle (Registration No. JK12B-9884) coming from Rajouri towards Surankote was intercepted. Upon checking, two bovine animals were found being transported without valid permission from the competent authority.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Parvaiz Khan, son of Rafiq Khan, resident of Sangiot, Tehsil Mendhar, District Poonch, was arrested on the spot.
In this connection, FIR No. 87/2025 under Section 223 BNS and 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered at Police Station Manjakote, and further investigation is underway.
