Srinagar, Oct 8: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Srinagar Police on Wednesday attached a residential property and land valued at approximately ₹75 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The attached property, comprising a shared double-storey house and 2.5 marlas of land out of a total of 15 marlas, is situated at Kenihama, BK Pora, Nowgam. As per revenue records, the property is registered in the name of Mohammad Jaffar Ganie, father of Parwaiz Ahmad Ganie alias Pawa, who is currently lodged in District Jail Kathua under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
Police said Parwaiz Ahmad Ganie has been named in FIR No. 128/2022 under Sections 8, 22, and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Nowgam. During investigation, it was established that he holds a share in the said property, including a room in the residential house and 2.5 marlas of land. Acting on these findings, the property was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
The attachment process was carried out in the presence of the Executive Magistrate First Class, BK Pora, and two independent witnesses, following all legal procedures. Approval for the action was granted by the competent authority—SAFEMA, New Delhi—and due legal notice was served before execution.
Officials said the owner is now prohibited from selling, leasing, or altering the attached property or creating any third-party interest as per law.
This action, police said, reflects the continuing determination of Jammu and Kashmir Police to eliminate drug-related activities and maintain a drug-free Srinagar. Authorities also appealed to the public to cooperate in efforts aimed at uprooting the drug menace from society.
