Narcotics destroyed in Handwara

Srinagar, Oct 8: Police in Handwara today destroyed narcotic substances worth lakhs of rupess linked to eight cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Officials said the disposal was carried out in strict compliance with the orders of the Additional Sessions Court, Handwara, and under the supervision of the Drug Disposal Committee chaired by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC), Handwara.
The operation took place at a designated site outside the District Police Lines (DPL) Handwara, adhering to all legal, scientific, and environmental safety protocols, police said.
According to police, the seized contraband was destroyed in a controlled manner to ensure full compliance with judicial and environmental guidelines.
Police further said that the process was conducted under the close supervision of the SDPO Handwara, Executive Magistrate First Class Handwara, Additional Public Prosecutor JMIC Handwara, and the Station House Officer (SHO) Handwara.
Handwara Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards drug-related offenses and urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate in efforts to curb drug abuse and trafficking.
