NEW DELHI, Oct 8: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Minister, Bali Bhagat strongly criticized the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) Government for what he termed as a “betrayal of the people of Jammu and Kashmir through hollow and deceptive promises.”
In a press statement issued here, Bhagat said that the NC had once again resorted to misleading the public by promising one lakh jobs and 200 units of free electricity, which, he said, were “nothing but political stunts designed to gain votes during the election season.”
“The NC leadership has a long history of deceiving the people of J&K ,” Bhagat asserted.
The BJP leader reminded the people that it was during the previous NC-Congress coalition Government that Jammu and Kashmir witnessed large-scale unemployment, administrative paralysis, and neglect of public infrastructure.
“If Omar Abdullah and his party were serious about employment generation, they had ample time during their tenure to create jobs. Instead, they left behind a legacy of “nepotism and inefficiency,” he added.
Bali Bhagat said that the BJP-led Central Government under Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has transformed Jammu and Kashmir with unprecedented development projects, transparent governance, and equitable growth.
“The Modi Government has ensured that opportunities reach every deserving youth through merit-based recruitment and fair policies, unlike the favoritism and dynastic politics promoted by parties like the NC,” he said.
He further alleged that Omar Abdullah and his party were trying to mislead the people of J&K by reviving emotional slogans and unrealistic promises.
“The people of J&K have matured politically and will not fall prey to such deceitful tactics. They have seen the difference between the politics of appeasement and the politics of development,” Bhagat remarked.
Highlighting the BJP’s commitment to good governance and social justice, Bhagat said that the party is working with a vision to make Jammu and Kashmir self-reliant and prosperous. “We believe in empowerment through action, not through words. The youth of this region deserve real opportunities, not political slogans. The BJP stands for transparency, and progress,” he said.
