SAMBA, Oct 8: Samba police on Wednesday arrested one person for allegedly desecrating a religious book in Koulpur village of Ramgarh area of Samba district.
Police said Manjit Singh alias Billa a resident of Koulpur village in Ramgarh reportedly used some inflammable oil to set ablaze the holy Guru Granth Sahib late Tuesday night, sparking widespread protests by the Sikh community.
“Ramgarh Police arrested the accused after registering an FIR under the relevant sections of law. The further investigation is underway,” police said. Meanwhile people have demanded stern action against the person responsible for sacrilegious act.
